A brow lift is a common cosmetic procedure used to tighten and smooth facial skin. This procedure is traditionally performed with regular surgical instruments, but advances in the medical field now make it possible for the plastic surgeon to incorporate a small camera known as an endoscope.
A few small incisions are made behind the hairline before the endoscope is inserted. The endoscope is attached to a video monitor, which allows the surgeon to get an accurate view of the muscle and tissue. Another instrument is used to re-position and lift the skin.
Shorter Recovery Time
One of the reasons many people opt to get an endoscopic brow lift is because the recovery time is relatively brief. Smaller incisions are made during an endoscopic brow lift than a traditional brow lift, requiring less downtime. Most people are able to return to their normal activities within 7-10 days of their procedure. The clips or sutures will typically be removed within one week, and bandages are often removed within a few days. Patients will be able to wash their hair after the bandages are removed.
Not only will patients be able to return to their normal activities more quickly, but also patients typically experience less itching and scalp numbness afterward.
Every surgical procedure where incisions are made will produce scars. However, an endoscopic brow lift will leave less scarring than a traditional brow lift as smaller incisions are made. In addition to healing more quickly, smaller incisions are also less visible after healing is complete.
An endoscopic brow lift is more effective for lifting eyebrows and reducing forehead wrinkles as it can improve the surgeon’s view and accuracy. It can also remove part of the muscle that causes frown lines for added benefit. The results of an endoscopic brow lift can last a long time, with some patients still enjoying their youthful appearances for up to 10 years or more. The amount of time that the brow lift lasts can vary from patient to patient, however.
An endoscopic brow lift is a safe procedure. The most common side effects of an endoscopic brow lift are temporary hair loss and swelling. However, those will typically resolve within a few weeks. Patients may also experience some pain, but this can easily be controlled with medication.
