On March 12, 2013, The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery released the top cosmetic procedures of 2012, revealing that breast augmentation replaced liposuction as the most popular surgical procedure in the U.S.
In 2006, silicone implants returned to the market with FDA approval which may have had an impact on this increased popularity in breast augmentation. The ASPS’ statistics show that in 2006, 81% of implants were saline and 19% were silicone. Results from last year show that only 28% of implants were saline and 72% were silicone.
Breast Augmentation is a highly individualized procedure based on the needs of the patient and preferences of the surgeon. Women may choose breast augmentation surgery for a variety of reasons. They may feel their breasts are too small or they may be dissatisfied with the shape and feel of their breasts due to fluctuations in weight, pregnancy or age. Regardless of your reason for wanting breast augmentation surgery, it will boost your self-confidence and change your self-image in a positive way.
This procedure not only has the highest satisfaction rate for surgical procedures in the U.S., but a recent study suggests that women who have breast augmentation procedures report higher satisfaction not only with the overall appearance of their breasts, but in their physical, sexual and psychosocial well-being as well. This procedure can also be performed in addition to a breast lift, a very popular combination of procedures among “mommy-makeover” patients that want to get back to their pre-pregnancy state.
