Liposuction in Orange County – San Clemente, Aliso Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgery, Liposuction holds the title as the third top surgical procedure of 2011, close behind breast augmentation and Rhinoplasty.
Liposuction procedures are used to remove that stubborn fat that never seems to go away, regardless of dieting and exercise. It is optimal for contouring areas of the hips and thighs. Dr. Aly’s method involves Fluid-Injected (Tumescent) liposuction (also known as Suction Assisted Liposuction or SAL). While many new technologies of liposuction will emerge from time to time touting a superior, stand-alone procedure, ultimately it comes down to the skill of the surgeon, not the tool. The SAL method used by Dr. Aly is safe, highly effective and widely accepted as the gold-standard.
A good candidate for traditional liposuction is healthy and has realistic expectations. Liposuction is not a form of weight loss surgery; it is for contouring and achieving a more sculpted appearance of the lower body. Liposuction removes fat cells permanently, so if you gain weight after the procedure, it usually will not concentrate in the area that was treated. Liposuction is performed as an outpatient procedure and involves very small incisions made in well hidden areas of the body. Most patients experiences some soreness in the days immediately following surgery, reaching a full recovery in about 4 to 8 weeks.
Fluid-Injected (Tumescent) Liposuction or Suction Assisted Liposuction (SAL)
The Tumescent, or SAL procedure, involves using a very dilute concentration of Lidocaine and adrenaline in a saline solution which is injected into the area being treated. This enables Dr. Aly to expand the area being treated, which dramatically diminishes bleeding, bruising, swelling, and discomfort, as well as allowing for the removal of larger amounts of fat more safely and easily. The Tumescent liposuction procedure is always performed under general anesthesia with a board certified anesthesiologist to ensure the patient’s comfort and safety.
The hips and outer thighs are some of the most common places of weight gain and localized fat. These areas are generally stubborn to exercise and as such, are the best regions for liposuction.
Suction Assisted Liposuction, or SAL, involves inserting a thin suction metal tube or “cannula” into subcutaneous body fat through small incisions. A vacuum device is attached so as the surgeon pushes and pulls the cannula forward and backward through the fat layer, the fat cells are broken up and drawn out of the body.
